YouTube research: any channel, any video, your own analytics

Compare channels, find a competitor's most viewed videos, read what viewers say in the comments, and pull your own channels' YouTube Analytics (watch time, traffic sources, the search terms that brought viewers), for several channels at once.

A conversation: someone asks "Compare @mkbhd, @veritasium and @kurzgesagt: subscribers, total views and number of videos."; the assistant calls Builders HQ's channel_stats tool and answers with a table (Channel, Subscribers, Total views, Videos, Views per video). Kurzgesagt has the most subscribers with the fewest videos: about 10 million views per video, three times what MKBHD gets from a much larger catalogue.
Real answer, 22 October 2026, YouTube Data API. The assistant called channel_stats with channels: ["@mkbhd", "@veritasium", "@kurzgesagt"].

Why it is hard today

Studio is one channel at a time

Several channels mean switching accounts in YouTube Studio and exporting each report on its own.

Competitor numbers are scattered

Subscribers, views per day and top videos sit on different pages, and nothing compares them side by side.

API quotas

The YouTube Data API's 10,000 units a day run out fast when every search costs 100.

How it works

  1. Add Builders HQ to your assistant. Public numbers for any channel or video work right away.
  2. For your own analytics, connect one or several channels on your account page.
  3. Ask about any channel by @handle, link or id, and compare as many as you like.
The YouTube card on the Builders HQ Connections page, with two channels connected and a button to connect another.
Connect as many of your channels as you run; ask about one, or all of them together.

Questions

Do I need to connect my channel?

Not for public numbers: any channel or video works right away. Connect your channel only for its private YouTube Analytics.

Can I connect several channels?

Yes. Connect each one on your account page, then name the channel in your question, or ask about all of them.

Does it post or change anything on YouTube?

No. The YouTube tools only read, and the connection asks for read-only access to YouTube Analytics.

Try it in your assistant

Free while in beta. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor and any client that supports remote MCP servers.
